At Semicon Taiwan 2025, Flexium Interconnect, QuantumZ, and MIC jointly launched the themed pavilion “The Advancement of Light,” presenting cutting-edge optoelectronic heterogeneous integration solutions that drew strong interest from industry professionals and international customers.
High-Precision Optical Waveguide Fabrication Equipment in the Spotlight
The highlight was MIC’s Fanta-X UV Direct Writing Exposure System, which combines a high-power UV light source with a DLP (Digital Micromirror Device) array to directly form optical channels in polymer waveguide materials. This system significantly improves fabrication precision and efficiency, providing critical process support for high-speed optical interconnects and advanced packaging.
A Complete Technology Chain Through Three-Party Collaboration
With its equipment development and system integration expertise, MIC successfully brought critical waveguide fabrication tools into practical applications. Together, Flexium Interconnect, QuantumZ, and MIC established a complete technology chain—from fabrication equipment → waveguide materials and design →system-level modules—to deliver end-to-end solutions for customers.
Showcasing Taiwan’s Leadership in Optoelectronic Heterogeneous Integration
This joint showcase highlights Taiwan’s innovation in optoelectronic heterogeneous integration, CPO, and high-speed optical interconnects, while demonstrating the synergistic impact of cross-company collaboration. The partnership is paving the way for new opportunities in data centers, AI computing, high-end consumer electronics, and immersive AR/XR applications.
QuantumZ’s Dual-Track Technology: Single-Mode and Multi-Mode Waveguides
QuantumZ unveiled two major technology directions of waveguide:
* Single-Mode Waveguides – Featuring ultra-thin form factor, small-pitch multi-channel, 3D stacking, and bendable architectures, these waveguides effectively address optical coupling and assembly challenges in CPO (Co-Packaged Optics). Supporting both high-power laser source integration and multi-channel high-speed data transmission, this technology is set to become a key solution for next-generation data centers and AI computing.
* Multi-Mode Waveguides – In collaboration with Flexium’s FPC (flexible printed circuits), QuantumZ developed the NeuroCircuit, the optoelectronic module, designed for short-reach high-speed transmission. It enables real-time processing of high-resolution image data, enhancing performance in AR/XR smart glasses and high-resolution smartphone video applications.
